The Blue team of Matthew Webb, Josh Partridge and Campbell Young took singles honours before Partridge and Young found themselves looking down the barrel at 3-5 in their doubles contest against LRTC skipper Isaac White and hard-hitting Daniel Binns.
Their comeback victory after saving three match points was one of three contests decided in a tiebreak as LRTC succumbed 0-6.
ELSEWHERE IN SPORT
Experienced A-graders Ken Ho from Trevallyn and Andrew Corbett from Legana battled out a tiebreak with Ho edging ahead as Trevallyn took the evening's rubber 5-1.
Legana's Andrew Roberts returned the favour to Trevallyn captain Phil Bonney but it was Legana's only success with Jacob Sheedy clocking doubles and singles wins for Trevallyn.
The hillside club will have to kill more giants in November to keep alive its slender hopes of making finals, which start December 2.
Top seeds Oliver Hadley from Riverside White and James Rakus from NTSC couldn't be split after 10 games but it was Hadley who took the honours in the tiebreak.
White picked up the other singles through Manning Mitchell and Adrian Wilson for a 5-1 win that consolidated its place in the top four.
