Formed about four years ago, the Launceston RSL ADF Welfare Team aim to support former and existing defence force members.
Run entirely by volunteers, on Saturday the team will host a trivia fundraising event to raise about $6000.
With demand on services at an all-time high, team secretary Dianne Brzeski said even a small donation could go a long way.
"Anyone who needs help can come to the RSL," she said.
In other news:
"We then assess as to what way they need to go. Whether it's food or some help with bills, we can then put them onto the suitable advocates.
"There is never a shortage of people reaching out to us, and we want to keep up with that. There is a gap in support services for veterans, and we are helping to fill that."
The Launceston RSL was established in 1916 - the first chartered sub-branch in Tasmania and now the oldest continuously running sub-branch in the Southern Hemisphere.
Leanne Crawford, whose father served in the Vietnam War, said when her father returned home he struggled to get the right help.
"It has changed over the years and it's got a lot better," she said.
"But seeing what he went through, I wanted to help in any way I could.
"To make it easier for people to transition or to just get by better."
