The Huon 32-year-old and her women's four crewmates Olympia Aldersey, Katrina Werry and Lucy Stephan have been named among the finalists in for World Rowing's women's crew of the year.
The recognition follows the crew's stunning season which featured dominant performances at the world cups followed by a gold medal at the world championships in Austria where the Aussies won their heat, semi-final and final.
The Tasmanian Institute of Sport said the news was: "Wonderful recognition for Sarah's hard work and dedication."
Hawe was also a member of the women's four crews that won world championship gold in 2017 in the US and silver in 2018 in Bulgaria.
Also named following analysis by an expert panel as finalists for the award are China's quadruple sculls crew, Irish single sculler Sanita Puspure and New Zealand's pair and lightweight double.
The winner will be announced at the World Rowing awards dinner in London on November 22.
