Six new faces will make their first appearance in Clarence colours today when the reigning premier takes on arch-rival Glenorchy in the final game of a split TFL first round at Bellerive Oval.Heading the list of arrivals at the club, which lost several big names from its grand final side during the off-season, are former Western Bulldog Scott Allen and Hobart's Mark Colegrave.Returning to the club after a two-year absence, Matthew Jones has been named as a joint vice- captain along with David Donato, while 178-gamer Gavin Cooney will lead the team as captain for season 1998.Also joining Clarence are Stuart Beechey, stepping up from the reserves, and other expatriate Roos Jeremy Smith and Anthony McConnon, both returning to the club from Sorell. Experienced defender Scott McCallum was available to play when a charge of striking Southern District's David O'Byrne in a pre-season game was dismissed by the TFL tribunal during the week. While Clarence will be full of new blood, Glenorchy's line-up will include only three new players. Former Tassie Mariner Matthew Bernes will make his senior debut on the Magpies' wing, while other newcomers Marcus Cugino and Shane Clark have been named on the interchange bench. Burnie's Marcus Bourne copped a four-match suspension from the TFL tribunal after he was found guilty of kneeing Devonport's Dwayne Williams in their first-round clash last Sunday. The tribunal viewed video evidence before handing down the suspension after Bourne was reported for engaging in rough play during the first quarter. In other cases before the tribunal, New Norfolk on- baller Adrian Beach was suspended for three matches for striking Clarence's Kieren O'Dwyer and Southern Districts will be without ruckman Paul McRae for two matches after he was found guilty of striking North Launceston's Adam Sanders in the pre-season final.
