The Greens have warned gene-editing techniques could undermine the state's GMO moratorium should amendments to federal regulations be approved.

Tasmanian Greens senator Nick McKim said the planned changes had concerned many in the state's farming community through potential loss of access to key markets.
Fellow Greens senator Janet Rice has introduced a motion to disallow the proposed changes which is to be voted on next month.
Clark independent MHR Andrew Wilkie said the changes would deregulate genetic modification techniques.
"Tasmanian producers currently enjoy preferential market access and price premiums because of our GMO moratorium," he said.
The state government recently extended its GMO moratorium by 10 years.
The Primary Industries Department will conduct regular reviews of developments within the gene technology area which could trigger a review of the government's policy if warranted
