The Disability Expo 2019 'Gearing up for Choice and Control', is on again with three events across the state in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport.
The expo, which is organised by Speak Out Advocacy aims to connect families, carers and people living with a disability to the services, supports and products they require.
While the National Disability Insurance Scheme provides the opportunity for people to have a greater say in their life and in selecting their service providers, it's not easy keeping up with all the organisations who are coming on board and working out the right assistance to suit individual needs.
Those who are navigating the NDIS, their families and carers, will welcome the chance the see the growing number of service providers in their area, all in the one location and get the information they need.
This year's expos also feature 'talking spots' - opportunities to be inspired by Tasmanian stories and hear important information
The expo is an invaluable resource for families, carers and people with disability to talk to key people directly, compare services and learn about the NDIS and the opportunities it can bring
- Jenny Dixon
- Expo Ambassador, Paul Pritchard - renowned rock climber, speaker and author who lives with hemiplegia after a rock climbing accident.
- The Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business - there are many programs and assistance designed to connect Australian job seekers, including people with a disability, with employers who need staff.
- The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission - find out about national worker screening, and being satisfied that someone is a safe provider.
Speak Out Advocacy manager Jenny Dixon said everyone is welcome to come along and take advantage of the free expo that is organised by the community, for the community.
"Every person living with a disability has different needs and will make different choices about how they wish to live their life.
"The expo is an invaluable resource for families, carers and people with disability to talk to key people directly, compare services and learn about the NDIS and the opportunities it can bring," Jenny said.
"The expo is also a great place to go for anyone considering working in the health and disability sector - as there will be organisations all under the one roof who may be looking for more staff or who will have representatives who can talk about job opportunities and training pathways.
"I hope this event will help lots of people make informed decisions," Jenny said.
