Roden emphasised what a welcome opportunity the St Helens Community Centre fixture is to give back to the East Coast community where he grew up, and build stronger connections with its netball program.
Cavaliers coaches and players will be holding a clinic for young St Helens netballers before the seniors and 19s matches.
Six rounds after defeating Kingston in their opening game, the Cavs remain undefeated. However, without the regular defensive unit of Rachael Tempo, Isabella Maskell and Kate McLaughlin plus mid-courter Shelby Miller who remains on Tassie Magpies duty, comeback queen Danni Carstens will again fill in for the opens, along with a number of her under-19s.
Roden was impressed with how those extra inclusions fitted seamlessly into his side and contributed to the victory against Karana but is wary of a Kingston team with a strong mid-court and height in both ends of the goal circle.
St Helens Netball Association said it is privileged to host its fourth State League match and grateful for the benefits to its members including demonstration of the pathways available to ambitious players and coaches.
Northern Hawks make a welcome return home with co-coach Ruth Tuohy keen to build on last week's victory over Arrows.
"We showed the most composure I've seen this season which was a great turnaround and we'll be looking to consolidate that," she said.
"We're trying to tell them that there's going to be mistakes, it's how you react to them that matters."
With Zoe Claridge on ANL duty and Ashton Whiley unavailable, the Hawks are down to eight regulars so, like their city rivals, will take the opportunity to blood 19s, who are allowed to play a maximum of six quarters across the two games.
"We're in a good position where we have options to rotate players and they get to see what's happening on the court."
