The Launceston rivals have had hectic pre-seasons ahead of hosting an action-packed opening two rounds at the Silverdome this weekend.
While the Hawks' pre-season camp stretched to a recovery session and waterslide workout at the George Town pool, the Cavaliers headed east as St Helens-based coach Dan Roden took over from coach of the year Dannie Carstens who will take on a broader responsibility with the club.
The Hawks' defence of their open premiership will see Kellie Woolnough and Ruth Tuohy co-coaching while Rachel Oliver takes charge of the 19s with assistance from Kellie Tahiri.
After the Low Head camp and some tough sessions around the parks of Launceston, the Hawks began their court sessions targeting individual strength and conditioning improvement with the aim of raising the performance bar still further.
Sisters Tessa and Lydia Coote arrive from the Cavs while Danni O'Byrne has retired.
Despite finishing third behind the Hawks last season, the Cavaliers did win the 19s premiership and made a bold statement at the pre-season carnival when they remained undefeated and beat their neighbours by six goals.
With the new-look coaching staff meeting regularly in the off-season, the Cavs trained twice a week until Christmas focusing on interval running, agility, speed and strength work.
The pre-season camp in St Helens in March strengthened relationships across both teams as the club also built on its bond with the seaside community.
Roden and 19s coach Tahlia Randall are also involved with Netball Tasmania's teams and pathway programs. Last season's 19s best and fairest winner Shannae Heazlewood will step up to opens, while Melody Philpott is a valuable addition to the goal circle.
Kate Gibson isn't playing this year while Megan Harper has moved back South leaving Deanna Wadley as the only returning goalie.
The 19s will have a strong mid-court of Piper Sanders and Hayley Older mixed with newcomers Lucy Jones and Jess Upton-Greer feeding an experienced goal circlet of Dani Laugher, Nadia Donnelly, Olivia Roberts and a fit-again Courtney Treloar.
The Silverdome will host six matches this weekend with the Launceston teams getting underway simultaneously on adjacent courts at 6.15pm on Saturday.
