After an opening week 5-1 loss, followed by a narrow 2-1 defeat then a derby win at Prospect before giving champions Devonport a solid workout, Alex Gaetani said he has witnessed consistent improvement from his Roos who have their sights set on their fifth-placed hosts.

"It's a game to get a good result at," Gaetani said.

"I think in this league there's Devonport and then there's distance and if we can continue to improve we can further put ourselves into a position where we can get something out of these games.

"We've seen a pretty steady improvement from game one to now but still think there is plenty more to come. When we get on the ball and can show how good we are technically, that will come with time.

"We are younger than everyone else and time will tell."

Argentine import Luca Vigilante was out with a foot injury against the Strikers last week, but Gaetani felt Tom Prince filled in admirably while keeper Jarrod Hill was again influential with a timely penalty save.

Unbeaten third-placed Zebras are the league's second highest scorers with 15 goals from two wins and two draws.

"Tough game," Sciulli said.

"They are well coached and we have our work cut out for us, like we will have all year. We'll see how we go.

"A lot of our guys are still tired but we will have a tougher session this week to try and get that leg weariness out because the game is on astroturf which takes its toll."

Sciulli said US import Pat Sullivan is still at least another couple of weeks away from returning.

With just one goal scored against them this season, ladder leaders Devonport look likely to extend their 100 per cent record as they host a rock-bottom Clarence side that has conceded an average of nearly nine goals per game thus far.
