The 19-year-old former Launceston midfielder from Longford, who was selected by the Crows with the ninth pick in last year's national draft, has been named on the half-forward flank for the Saturday twilight encounter at Adelaide Oval.
Crows coach Don Pyke confirmed the news in Thursday's team meeting, having told Jones two days earlier.
"He said I was making a debut and then everyone was just clapping and cheering and got into a bit of a chant there at one stage," Jones said on Adelaide's website.
"I was a little bit overwhelmed. It was a moment where everyone's clapping for you and don't know what to do, sitting there like you're trying to say thank you.
"You think about this time last year and you just dream of it. For it to be actually happening is just still surreal."
Fellow early draft pick Tarryn Thomas, from North Launceston, has been named on North Melbourne's extended bench for Sunday night's clash with Fremantle.
