The annual Independent Primary School Heads of Australia is a leadership day involving more than 110 pupils and 20 teachers from schools across Tasmania and was held at the junior campus.
The focus of this year's leadership day was student wellbeing and pupils were split into teams and sent around about 10 stations with different activities.
Pupils were from grades five and six and included Hobart independent schools as well as Grammar and Scotch Oakburn pupils.
Activities included a Sphero ball challenge, with teams pitted against each other to use sphero ball software to navigate around their own designed course.
Grammar grade 6 teacher Tim Brown, who was running the Sphero challenge session, said the aim was to have teams communicate and collaborate on the course but also the speed of the ball.
The aim of the challenge was to complete it with the Sphero ball in under 10 seconds.
"So they have to be the fastest but also the most accurate," he said.
Pupils were also put through their paces in a blindfold challenge, to help teach them how to best communicate, even with people they didn't know.
Most of the teams and students in the stations hadn't worked together before.
Grade 6 teacher Jess Fawcett also took pupils through an activity to get them thinking about leadership and how they would describe their own leadership style.
The activity split pupils into small teams and asked them to come up with three words that described them and ones they would like to focus on this year as leaders at their own schools.
IPSHA provides a setting for the sharing of ideas and information with member schools. An annual calendar of meetings and professional learning for staff, along with student activities, are coordinated by the association.
