CA confirmed on Wednesday they would employ a high performance manager in addition to a manager of national teams, after Howard was sacked at the end of last year.

Under the job split, the high performance manager will work with the state bodies to oversee domestic competitions, pathways and talent identification.

The national teams manager will be responsible for Australian sides, selection as well as operations and logistics.

"After reflecting on the EGM team performance position over the home summer, we have made the decision to split responsibilities across two roles to enable greater focus on the many dimensions of a complex role," CA CEO Kevin Roberts said.

"Both roles will work closely with the EGM of Community Cricket, Belinda Clark, to manage the three key levels of the game, from community cricket through to professional competitions at the domestic level and ultimately to national teams who represent our country."

Clark will continue to fill the role on an interim basis until Howard is replaced.

Throughout Howard's tenure there was a thought among some past and present players he was given too much power and too many responsibilities.

Roberts has previously said he will consult senior players before announcing the replacements, with Dean Jones, Mark Taylor, Western Australia's Ben Oliver and Queensland's Brett Jones floated as some of the options.
