The former Tasmanian Tigers rookie claimed a career-best 7-28 to lead his team to an outright win over Wynyard.
The Blues resumed their innings at 3/33, needing a further 74 runs to make Sheffield bat again.
But Simonds was unstoppable on Day 2, claiming the first five wickets to fall, before Sam Robinson (3-22) cleaned up the tail.
Brendan Willcox (22) was the only Wynyard batsman to get a start, with the Blues all out for 66 in 35.2 overs.
Jacob Snare's five-wicket haul and a quickfire half-century to Josh Walmsley gave Ulverstone a commanding win over Latrobe.
The Black Caps resumed their first innings at 8/122, but quickly lost their last two wickets without adding to their score.
The Demons began their second innings with a 47-run deficit but skipper Callan Morse dug in, making a patient 57 from 122 balls (seven fours, three sixes).
He shared in a 53-run partnership with Kodie Clarke (17) and a 33-run stand with Blake Weeks (21) to give Latrobe some hope of avoiding defeat.
But when Snare removed Morse wickets started to fall, and despite a quickfire 17 not out from Lachlan Walsh, the visitors were all out for 157.
Snare finished with the impressive figures of 5-40 from 18 overs.
Ulverstone needed 111 runs to score a clear win, and they chased down the victory target in just 21 overs.
Skipper Josh Walmsley smashed the ball to all parts of UCI Oval, hitting 79 from 59 balls, his innings including 14 fours and three sixes.
Spinner Blake Weeks (2-31) was the pick of the Latrobe bowlers.
The Burnie Hurricanes retained first place on the ladder with a first innings win over Devonport.
... Simonds was unstoppable on Day 2, claiming the first five wickets to fall, before Sam Robinson (3-22) cleaned up the tail.
The Orions started Day 2 requiring 283 runs for victory but found fast scoring difficult against a disciplined Hurricanes bowling line-up.
Opener Brent Lawler (55) and Cody Brown (37) provided a platform, with the home side 2/117 from 58 overs.
The introduction of Brady Yates into the attack paid dividends for the visitors, as the spinner removed Lawler and Brown in quick succession.
Momentum was now with the Hurricanes, and the Orions soon slumped to 9/156.
A 28-run partnership between Heath Davies (35 not out) and Chris Lindsay (4) gave the Orions some hope of surviving for a draw, but debutant George Davies broke the partnership, claiming his maiden First Grade wicket to clinch a Hurricanes win.
The Hurricanes then smashed 43 runs from 4.5 overs to claim a handy batting bonus point, with Josh Barry and Kurt Lamprey both making 21 not out.
The top four teams play each other in the final round, bringing the season to an exciting conclusion.
