During a visit to the city to look over the course for the ITU Paratriathlon World Cup, OTU Sprint Triathlon Oceania Championship, OTU Sprint Triathlon Junior Oceania Championship, Triathlon Australia Junior and Youth National Championships and OTU Sprint Triathlon Mixed Relay Oceania Championship events that will take place, Cooper said the event would be the first Triathlon Australia one to be live streamed.
"It will be showcased via Triathlon Live, which is a global platform for triathlon, so taking Tasmania to the world, in particular Devonport, is a massive coup for us this year,'' she said.
"We really want to be able to demonstrate that triathlon in all its format is entertaining and provides a real opportunity for people to understand the sheer athleticism of what our athletes are going to be putting on display.
"Having a course that gives us the opportunity to showcase that, which provides a bit of a variety and mixes up that athletic scene plays a big part in deciding to showcase that live."
Cooper said the triathlon, which was first held in 1985, remained an important part of the Triathlon Australia calendar, labeling it "one of its premier events".
"It is a great location for us, as it gives us the ocean opportunity rather than a lake opportunity, where Australians tend to provide their best swimming opportunities,'' she said.
About 250 competitors overall have been confirmed, with 50-60 para-athletes for the March 2 and 3 races.
It was Cooper's first visit to Devonport as president.
