Prior to the changes there was a twice weekly service to Launceston and three day a week service to Hobart.
Tassielink general manager Shane Dewsbury said state resources have been put into a daily service which would allow people to travel from Strahan to Burnie return within one day.
"The department numbers indicated there was more an appetite for people to go to their nearest hub, which is Burnie," Mr Deswbury said.
Mr Dewsbury said there have been discussions for years over what is best to service the local community, with a trial of the new Burnie service over the past two years a success.
Concerns have been raised about the route changes regarding those wishing to travel by bus from Launceston or Hobart to Strahan.
Minister for Infrastructure Jeremy Rockliff said the new daily service between the Strahan and Burnie will have onward connections to Devonport, Launceston and Hobart.
"Given concerns that have been raised by some stakeholders about the new West Coast route, I have asked State Growth to conduct a further review of the changes of the next week to ensure that they best meet the needs of local communities," Mr Rockliff said.
"This is the first system wide review of public bus services in a decade involving 18 months of consultation.
"With such a massive undertaking it was inevitable that there would be some challenges, however we are committed to getting these changes right."
