Attorney-General Elise Archer announced the proposed amendments to the Criminal Code on December 9, which would see changes made to criminalise cyberbullying under the stalking section of the code.
The draft amendments draw on recommendations from the Tasmania Law Reform Institute and propose the current offence of stalking be amended to capture serious bullying behaviour.

Submissions on the proposed amendments closed in February. A government spokesperson said the submissions would be made public after the government had finished their own review of the material.
“The government is committed to extensive public consultation when it comes to matters of reform and we will consider all submissions," the spokeswoman said.
The proposed amendment would ensure cyberbullying was considered a crime under the Criminal Code.
