Just two days earlier the new-look Tigers appeared on track to reach the state’s first-ever decider in the competition’s 23-year history.
But joy has turned quickly to dismay when Victoria held on to win by 14 runs at Melbourne’s Junction Oval.
Victory could have even secured the Tigers a historic home final in Hobart.
They instead slipped one point behind Queensland, who will now travel to Sydney to face New South Wales.
All three states won four of its six matches, but Tasmania collected the fewest bonus points to finish up third.
The final difference proved to be Australian champion Meg Lanning, thwarting the visitors with a matchwinning 105 off 101 balls, including nine boundaries.
Launceston seamer Meg Phillips had ended Lanning’s vigil still five overs short before Molly Strano (46) and Nicole Fultum (33) added a further 46 to reach 7-260.
Longford offspinner Sasha Moloney was the Tigers’ best bowler with 2-31 in eight.
Tassie’s opening batters Stefanie Daffara (49) and Georgia Redmayne (43) had put their team in a strong position after a 97-run stand.
But Daffara’s dismissal turned the game as four top-order wickets fell for just 18 runs. More promising starts from Veronica Pyke (53), Meg Phillips (34) and Emma Thompson (30) in the end was not enough.
