Tasmania has pulled off a resounding 49-run win to open up its account at the women’s national under-18 championships in Bendigo. The Tasmanians registered a competitive 7-126 – their highest score in four games – in the Twenty20 clash against Northern Territory. Kingborough star Bonnie Davies top-scored with 55 off 49 balls opening the batting. State captain and ex-Riverside talent Sophie Parkin chipped in with a run-a-ball 23 for a 52-run stand with Davies for the third wicket. The Territorians struggled from the start, collapsing to 5-43 after three middle-order wickets fell for just two runs. South Launceston’s Meg Radford and Davies both picked up 2-8 off three overs. Parkin grabbed 2-14 off four overs as Tasmania restricted their rivals to 9-77. Tasmania will take on a Cricket Australia XI in its next match on Thursday.
