The pair both believe Matthew Wade should have been included in the squad for the SCG Test on Thursday.
“I think he’s very unlucky,” Cummins said.
“I think runs and wickets are the only currency that selectors should be looking at.
“He’s been the best Shield batsman the last two seasons.
“We’re very grateful to have him for the Big Bash, so if they want to leave him with us, we won’t complain from the Hurricanes’ perspective.
“Certainly from a Tigers perspective, we think he’s earned the right to be there as a batsman alone.”
Bailey echoed the sentiments that has seen the keeper top the Sheffield Shield runs with 571 at 63.44.
“For the last two years, there is no batsman in Australia batting better than him at the moment,” he said.
“If he gets his opportunity again, he’ll certainly make the most of it.”
