Kenzie, who had a handicap of 140m, won the race in 3:58.73 in front of Aaron Humphrey and Phillip McConnon, with Stewart McSweyn, who started off scratch, finishing fourth.
“I put everything into that one, so to come away with a win today, I am just absolutely stoked,’’ the 22-year-old paralympian said.
‘With these carnival races, I always think the best strategies are to run your heart out from the start and that’s exactly what I did and it paid off today.
“To win any mile race is a huge honour, so to come here today and go back-to-back, I am just absolutely stoked.”
Kenzie admitted he had a pretty clear focus out on the grass at Latrobe.
“I was just staying pretty relaxed and pretty focused and trying to control what I can control, and that was running fast,’’ he said.
“I just focus on what I can control, and if someone comes out and has a great race and beats me, well that’s an awesome effort by them.
“I just put everything I can do into the race and if it pays off, it pays off, if not I am still happy with the result.”
Despite putting so much into his quest for back-to-back wins at Latrobe, Kenzie believed he still had some fuel left in the tank for the remainder of the Christmas Carnivals Series.
“I have put a big focus into this one, but if I can get up and get a place, or even a win, in the next two (in Devonport and Burnie), that would just be a bonus.”
