The under 15 boys team with Launceston’s Sejr Deans defeated by New Zealand 59-57, with Deans held to two points, with both of those points coming from the free throw line.
The boys team lead by two points going into the final quarter after outscoring their opponents by 11 points in the third quarter, but a 17-13 final term was enough for the New Zealand to claim victory.
Deans has been a consistent scorer for the boys team over the first three days, scoring 16 points against Guam, 15 points against Fiji and 16 points against Samoa.
The under 15 girls featuring Ulverstone’s Zoe Crawford comfortably defeated an outmatched Fiji 141-15 in the afternoon session.
Crawford finished with 18 points and three rebounds from her 17 minutes on the court.
The under 15 girls team were scheduled to play again on Thursday, with their game against Papua New Guinea scheduled for 9pm.
The under 15 boys will have a chance to rebound against Papua New Guinea on Friday, with the game scheduled to start at 9pm.
