The group have won three Aria Awards for best dance release and are currently based in Los Angeles.
They will be performing a one off show on January 6, at The Bridge Hotel (the Forth pub), on a specially designed stage out the back next year.
Some of Pnau’s biggest hits include Go Bang and Chameleon, both finishing at the pointy end of the Triple J’s Hottest 100.
A spokesperson from the Forth pub said it was their only Tasmanian gig for the summer of 2019 and it was highly unlikely they would be coming back.
“It is not just something coming to Launceston or Hobart, we are actually giving that option of something right on the Coast for the 18 to 35s,” the spokesperson said.
Concert goers can camp overnight for free at the Forth Recreation Ground, which is an alternative to driving.
“Having the free camping across the river, it is a cheaper option for people and a lot safer because you don’t have the long travel times.
“A Coaster that lives in Smithton, instead of driving five hours, paying for accommodation, petrol and the $60 or $70 to see someone in Hobart, you could drive an hour or two and have a free camp on the doorstep.”
The spokesperson said for the band, the gig was not about making money, it was for their image.
“It is something different and it is moving away from those big stadium gigs. It is more up close and personal.
“It (the pub) is remote, it is quirky, it has got a vibe and it is not too far out of the metro areas to get to. They have come from doing Splendor in the Grass and headlining different festivals. This is something a bit different.
“It would be great if we can get Tassie to get behind it and support it.”
The show will be “out the back” of the hotel, off William Street, Forth.
The show is from 4pm until 10pm on Sunday January 6, 2019.
Tickets will be available at moshtix.com.au from midday December 5 (this Wednesday), 2018. It will cost $62.00 plus booking fees.
