Making his debut in 410 sprintcars last season, Goodyer clinched his maiden feature-race win at Hobart and enjoyed an encouraging run on the mainland which saw him place sixth in the third and final Easter Trail round at Warrnambool.
Picking up where he left off, the 17-year-old led most of the feature race at Latrobe only to be pipped in the latter stages and finishing second.
Backing this up with a third place at Hobart, Goodyer again led at Carrick before being relegated to second on the last corner by Jason Redpath.
“We’re really happy with the speed we’ve been consistently producing and we’ve been so close to the feature-race win on numerous occasions, we just haven’t quite been able to pull it off yet,” said Goodyer, who started his season by finishing eighth in the Chariots of Thunder Series at Darwin.
“The early start against some tough competition has definitely helped us to dial the car in and improve our consistency, which is reflected in our results so far.”
Travelling to the mainland again this week for the Victorian title at Warrnambool, Goodyer will be basing himself there over the Christmas-New Year period, contesting multiple blue-ribbon events, culminating with the Australian Championship at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway.
“I’m really looking forward to racing on the mainland again,” added Goodyer, whose schedule will also incorporate the Grand Annual Classic and Presidents Cup.
“It’s definitely challenging to take on the country’s best sprintcar drivers at these renowned events, but it’s the perfect opportunity to build up my confidence and learn as much as I can from them.”
