Launceston Church Grammar’s Mia Findlay was one of six Northern athletes to claim three events.
Findlay won the girls’ under-16 high jump, triple jump and 800m, while Kings Meadows’ Abbie Butler took out the age group’s 1500m, 2000m steeplechase and 3000m.
Riverside multiple state and national champion Sam Clifford clinched the under-15 boys’ 1500m in 4:23.75, 3000m in 8:45.01 and 800m in 1:15.34.
Under-14 St Patrick’s College student Seth Pfeiffer was victorious in the long, high and triple jumps, St Thomas More’s Georgia Harmey won the under-10 girls’ 100m, long jump and 800m; and Norwood’s Riley Howard collected first spot in the 11-year boys’ 100m, long jump and 800m.
Twelve Northern athletes also finished on top in two events apiece with Grammar’s Elliott Findlay securing both the 12-year boys’ discus (33.23m) and shot put (10.27m).
Stars to double up were: Sacred Heart’s Abbey Berlese (11-year girls’ high jump, 800m), Mowbray Heights’ Ben Potter (11-year boys’ 100m, 200m), St Patrick’s College’s Isabella Davie (under-14 girls’ 800m, 1500m), Grammar’s Averyl Quinn (11-year girls’ 800m, 1500m), Queechy’s Jaxson Stone (under-14 boys’ discus, shot put), Lilydale’s Jaydn Crawford (under-16 boys’ 200m hurdles, 400m hurdles), Riverside’s Jackson Wood (under-14 boys’ 200m, 100m), Prospect’s Alicia Hollingworth (under-14 girls’ long jump, triple jump), Launceston College’s Jade Hardstaff (under-18 girls’ 400m, 200m), Scotch Oakburn’s Alexander Creak (under-16 boys’ 400m, 800m) and Scotch Oakburn’s Isabella Foster (under-18 girls’ long jump, triple jump).
Other state champions include: Scottsdale’s Taia Lette (12-year girls’ high jump) and Wade Lamont (under-14 boys’ javelin), Riverside’s Will Bottle (under-14 walk), St Finn Barr’s Kate Healer (under-12 long jump), Sacred Heart’s Ava Jones (12-year 800m) and Xavier Davie (10-year boys’ 800m) and Scotch Oakburn’s Bryce Lawes (under-14 boys 400m).
From the meet, a 48-member Tasmanian squad has been selected to compete at the Australian all-schools championships in Melbourne on December 7.
