Works on the new hospital were being undertaken by Fairbrother on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services.
In the Break O’Day Council’s annual report, mayor Mick Tucker said the addition of this facility to the region would ensure the region has an adequate framework for comprehensive health infrastructure going into the future, especially as the region has a high number of retirees.
The existing St Helens District Hospital will remain in operation over the Christmas period.
The transition into the new facility is expected to take place from February 2019.
