The Tamar Tigers successfully chased down Legana’s 143 last week and will boast a home-ground advantage against a Bluebacks side that took down perennial champions Longford in a thriller.
The hosts will be without captain-coach Rob Crane, who hit a match-winning 79 in round 1, and paceman Joe Bodis but opening bowler Beau Hills will play.
“Our bowling must improve but our batting performance was solid. ACL look like they will be competitive so it will be interesting to see what they’ve got,” Crane said.
Matthew Oates is unavailable for ACL with captain-coach John Kedey pleased with his side’s early inroads. “Us and Beauty Point have been evenly matched in recent years and both teams have got three or four genuine match winners, so this game should be tight,” he said.
In the second match down the Tamar, HADSPEN and LONGFORD hope to find their first wins of 2018-19.
Chieftains captain-coach Liam Reynolds returns to strengthen his side, while the Country Tigers must replace the services of Shannon Rumbel and recruit Max Magann.
Longford captain-coach Josh Adams said he was unimpressed with his batsmens’ work ethic in only compiling 99 last week.
“I don’t think we were prepared enough to work hard enough at the crease and build partnerships,” he said.
“Our bowlers did a good job.”
Reynolds said his best XI would take time to gel and that Longford is always hard to conquer.
The double-header at Trevallyn Park will begin with a bout between LEGANA and PERTH.
Both sides are likely to remain unchanged with Demons skipper Ross Tulich impressed by his side’s bowling during the season opener.
Durhams coach Geoff Stick said his side learned a valuable lesson last Saturday about how losing focus for several overs can have a “negative impact” on the result.
Matthew Wells and Jeremy Robinson will line-up.
TREVALLYN has replaced Kyle Strochnetter and Sanjay Sagar with John McCoy and Wayne Ford for its clash with CRESSY.
Despite finishing its first hit out 5-82, Trevallyn captain James Whiteley said his side was optimistic about how it’s building towards next week’s first round of 40-over matches.
Bulldogs captain-coach Damian Whybrow said he was content with how new recruits Scott Driessen and Clint Moore have settled in.
