The father of two, who turns 34 on Friday, clubbed 13 fours and three sixes to reach 130 off 108 balls in the Shamrocks’ thrilling win over Launceston.
The ton was Anderson’s 13th since returning to his boyhood club in 2011-12.
“It was good to start the season with some runs, it takes the pressure off moving forward and to start with a win was good for the Westbury boys,” said Anderson, a member of Tasmania’s 2007–08 one-day cup winning side.
“Most of my involvement now the club is around committee work and coaching and team selection and stuff like that, so it makes it a bit harder to put time into cricket as far as hitting balls goes, so that’s why it’s good to get some runs.
“I’m not sure how many seasons I’ve got left playing but as long as I can contribute and feel like I’m hitting the ball well I’m happy to keep playing.”
Anderson said he was enjoying his role as Greater Northern Raiders’ batting coach but would not look to take a spot in the team.
“We’ve discussed it but I’d prefer not to go down that track at my age, I think there’s some good young cricketers across the North of the state that are as good a player as I am, if not better, and it’s important those guys get an opportunity to have a crack.”
