The ex-Cavalier was the sole Tasmanian in the squad of 23 identified by the national selection panel as demonstrating potential to progress to the Diamonds squad within the next three years.
Selected athletes will have an individual performance plan provided by the Netball Australia Centre of Excellence which incorporates daily training environment needs, training objectives and competition plans.
They will be supported in their transition to the Super Netball league from state sporting institutes.
Rainbow moved to Melbourne in 2015 and has since played for the Tasmanian Magpies and also state-affiliated Collingwood in a home-state preseason friendly at the Silverdome against Commonwealth Games-bound Wales and Northern Ireland before sitting on the bench for one Super Netball game.
