St Helens Waterfront Holiday Park managers Ryan and Sally Pendergast said they were excited to officially open their doors to the public at the end of October.
“It’s all about being able to create memorable experiences for our guests,” Mr Pendergast said.
“We’re proud to be able to build a brand new park in a fantastic location like St Helens.
“The park itself as been custom designed and built, we’ve made sure that our park is unique and that it differentiates itself from the rest of the market.”
Mr Pendergast said the park hosted some special guests over the One Night Stand weekend.
“It was great. We were able to hold an event in what we’ve called the Parkside Bar and Kitchen, which seats up to 200 people,” he said.
“And then, we also had some people on behalf of the [Break O’Day] council in some cabins that we were able to get ready for use, so now 10 of the 24 cabins are up and running.
“It was a bit of a dry run to see how everything went, and it kind of forced us to make some decisions around the park that we’d been wanting to make.”
Mr Pendergast said their first weekend open would be the November long weekend.
“We’re going to be extremely busy with the accommodation, but then also with the bar and kitchen as well,” he said.
National Roads and Motorists’ Association parks and resorts chief executive Paul Davies said the company hoped to bring more tourism dollars to small communities.
“Australia has some of the world’s best tourist destinations so it’s a no-brainer that we want to encourage more people to holiday locally,” he said.
“Regional tourism is at the heart of our business, particularly our holiday parks. We do well when regional areas like St Helens thrive.”
Mr Davies said tourism wasn’t just about the traveller, but the communities they visit.
“Regional communities offer unique experiences for domestic and international travellers. Tourism produces flow-on benefits for these communities,” he said.
The new holiday park features 26 family friendly cabins, 45 powered camping sites, a restaurant and function centre, bar, providore, and cafe, camp kitchen and bathrooms, and a playground and recreation room.
The holiday park is located on St Helens Point Road.
The St Helens Waterfront Holiday Park will officially open on October 29.
