Chairman Richard Bennett leaked half of the 24 names on Friday with the remainder to be unveiled at the Raiders’ season launch at UTAS Stadium on Friday, September 21, from 6pm.
Wood was named along with teammates Alex Kerrison and Jake Williams, Launceston coach Alistair Taylor and paceman Tom Gray, and South Launceston’s Jono Marsden and Lachie Newland.
Also in the squad are North-West Coasters Miles Barnard, Brodie Hayes, Sam O’Mahony, Shaun Redman and Matt Talbot.
“We also have several players still overseas and playing winter sport that we expect will be likely,” an excited Bennett said.
“Around that we have had some excellent sessions at the NTCA indoor facility and small group sessions at Devonport.”
Bennett said Andrew Gower had stepped in the absence of head coach Tim Coyle, who is tied up with interstate and international responsibilities.
“Jason Pearce, Nick Hayes and Dane Anderson are all under way with hands on coaching duties and the Raiders will hook up bowling specialist Roger Brown shortly,” Bennett said.
“Evan Gulbis has been a terrific addition to the training group, assisting the players as he prepares for his BBL opportunity with the Melbourne Stars.”
