The shooting guard was set upon during the FIBA World Cup qualifier between Australia and the Philippines sparking a major incident in which punches and even chairs were thrown.
Goulding, who has broken into the national team on the back of leading Melbourne United to the NBL title, was floored by an elbow in the third quarter with the Boomers leading 79-48.
The game eventually continued after a long delay, with nine Filipino players and four Australians ejected, but Goulding’s agent Daniel Moldovan told SEN radio he wanted action taken.
“He is a tough one, which is no surprise to any of us. He is shocked and appalled, as we all are, at what took place,” Moldovan said.
“The issue that I have, and the issue that everybody should have, is what took place from those not involved in the game.
“I have nothing that I’m going to comment on in regards to what led up to the fight, whether some of the Boomers were at fault or whether some of the Filipino players were at fault.
“What took place from those who flew off the bench, out of sight and out of mind, the team officials, managers, equipment guys, water boys, whoever they were, going in in the fashion that they did, that’s where I take serious offence to what took place.
“That’s where I want to see FIBA come down with a very, very heavy hand.”
Moldovan said “serious measures” were necessary before one of his clients plays basketball in the Philippines again.
“To see not a single security guard step in and protect anybody is hard for me to even fathom.
“If FIBA’s response isn’t adequate, I’m going to pursue my own legal avenues to protect my client.
“Serious measures need to [be] put in place before I comfortably send players to these environments again.”
Goulding, 29, was born in Launceston and his family moved to Queensland in his youth. He was in the Boomers team that won gold at the Commonwealth Games.
