The 27-year-old, who admits to being a big fan of the triathlon, is using her latest visit to the state as preparation for the next big event on her busy schedule, representing Australia at April’s Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
“I haven’t really raced this early in the season for a few years,’’ McShane said.
“With Gold Coast in April I am looking to get in the best possible shape that I can, so I thought that this (Devonport) would be a good chance to get some early season races in in preparation for that.
“It will also allow me to practice a few things that I have been working on in the off-season so by the time I get to the Gold Coast I will be in the best possible shape.”
The elite women’s/under 23 race will be the first race on Saturday, starting at 7.30am. An elite men’s/under 23 race and Para Triathlon World Cup event will also be held.
