The come-from-behind two-under performance over the final 18 holes upset hometown favourite Michael Leedham from securing his seventh title on his local course at Mowbray Golf Club.
The only player to score under par over all three days, Olsen won by two shots after Leedham was forced to settle on a four-over 75.
Olsen on the final day bettering Leedham’s even-par score on Wednesday proved the difference.
Leedham had led Olsen, Victorian Gordon Claney and South Australian John Davey overnight by four strokes heading into the last round on Friday morning.
Davey finished a further two shots behind on the last day after a tournament-best 73 round.
Claney, the joint first-day leader, tapped in for a 11-over par after he crashed on Thursday.
Tasmanian Bill Wellington finished inside the top 10, the Huon Valley golfer shooting a 78 for a 19-over.
Wynyard’s Craig Clark steadied with a round of 80 to claim equal 13th place.
Launceston’s David Hamilton was the next best local player to Leedham, but still 23 strokes off the pace after his 81 on Friday.
Both Greg Powell, from Prospect Vale with 89, and Leigh Rodman, from Mowbray with 91, finished equal 35th among the 56 entrants.
The strokeplay tournament is one of the Australian men’s senior ranking events for golfers aged 55 years and over.
