The pair’s triumph at the national enduro mountain biking championships followed a popular victory in the National Road Series for Tom Robinson and a welcome return to competition for Richie Porte.
“I’m delighted,” said Fry, 34, after adding to her seven elite national mountain bike titles.
“This is a bit of a different genre but it’s still right up there. Any time you win a national title is special.”
Flint claimed the under-17 girls’ title at Fox Creek in Adelaide.
“It’s pretty cool,” said the 15-year-old Riverside High student who has also featured in Tasmanian road and track cycling teams. “It was a really good learning experience for me and an awesome weekend.”
Also celebrating across the border in Victoria was Robinson who claimed perhaps the biggest win of a 16-year cycling career.
“I have wanted to do this for a long time!” said the 27-year-old who began racing at the Tasmanian Carnivals, and won the Bairnsdale Criterium in the Tour of Gippsland.
Meanwhile the Japan Cup witnessed the return to racing of Porte for the first time since his horrific crash in July’s Tour de France.
"The weather wasn't the best, but it was nice to get back on the bike and ride with the guys,” said the 32-year-old BMC Team leader. “It is a fun race here, and it is good to come back with no pressure.”
