Having raced to a 36-minute lead after Saturday’s legs, Hunt completed day two’s paddling, cycling, mountain biking and running legs in less than three and a half hours to tack on another 27 minutes to his lead.
The performance capped off a stellar weekend for the wider Hunt family and earned hearty praise from event co-organiser Louise Padgett.
“He’s got the trifecta now,” Padgett said.
“He was really happy to take the win and his partner Georgia (Nesbitt) won the women’s division as well so that’s fantastic too.
“Alex’s brother Robbie Hunt finished third in the open men’s division so it was a good family affair for the Hunts.”
Having only recently returned from winning silver in the lightweight quad sculls at September’s world championships in Florida, Nesbitt entered day two more than 35 minutes ahead of Nikki Hall.
The pair enjoyed a tighter tussle on day two, with Nesbitt extending her lead by a quarter of an hour to win the women’s title in her first year competing as an individual.
Hobart team Bike Ride enjoyed plenty of success, taking out both four-person team events with the men’s team leading the field for the entire race.
Southerner Tom Ayliffe recorded the quickest road bike time for a male, with Launceston’s Sally Alps collecting the fastest cycling time for a female.
