Following a trial last season, the two clubs will implement the concept full-time with Huon Valley to try it out.
State Little Athletics president Rhonda O’Sign said it is aimed to offer regular track and field competition for athletes aged 15 years and beyond in regional areas that do not have a senior club.
“The one club concept is designed to keep athletes competing beyond their Little Athletic years in regional areas,” she said.
“Historically many athletes are lost to the sport once they finish Little Athletics due to the distance to travel to their nearest senior club. The model has the full endorsement of Athletics Tasmania and we look forward to seeing the retention and growth of senior athletics in these areas.”
O’Sign said competition is open to senior athletes wishing to try out athletics for the first time, looking to resume or are registered with Athletics Tasmania-Tasmanian Masters.
