The 35-year-old completed the 3km swim, 120km bike and 30km run course in five hours, 26 minutes and 23 seconds behind fellow Australian Joshua Amberger and Canadian winner Lionel Sanders (5:20:36).
Gambles’ other achievements include a bronze medal at the 2013 Ironman 70.3 world championships.
George Town’s Aaron Zanevra, 24, crossed the line in ninth position in the men’s 20-24 age class, clocking 7:00:51.
Launceston Triathlon Club athlete Diane Webb (women’s 50-54) finished in 9:23:39.
Fellow club members David Herbig, Heather Carins, Peter Adams and Shandell Elmer also took part in the 10-day Canadian multisport festival alongside about 220 other Australians.
