Sklenar’s Olympia Warriors would go on towards handing out City a 8-1 lesson, as the match was all over just past the half-hour mark.
The hefty defeat was also City’s worst under coach Ben Brookfield since the 7-1 scoreline against South Hobart earlier this year.
Clarence United by just claiming its second win of the season on Saturday night against Kingborough Lions 3-0 moved up one spot to seventh.
That had ensured City had to claim maximum points in Sunday’s away clash in Hobart to maintain the side’s tenuous position off the bottom of the NPL table.
But they didn’t stand a chance against the one-time Czech first-division Dukla Prague striker.
Sklenar scored in the 25th, 27th, 29th and 32nd minutes after continually finding space and time to knock the ball past City’s stand-in keeper Lachlan Clark for the injured David Smith.
The 26-year-old’s four goals was the second time he has reached that mark in his first Tasmanian campaign.
Sklenar now leads the NPL Tasmania Golden Boot race with 20 goals.
Olympia’s Lucas Hill, Paul Stevens and Thomas Bellini all added second-half goals.
City youngster Noah Mies scored a 72nd-minute consolation strike for the visitors.
American Dylan Williams sent a through ball out for Mies to run onto that he clinically placed into the net.
