The Launceston-based Southern Stars assistant, who coached Tasmania to three Sheffield Shield and two 50-over titles, replaces Lachlan Stevens in the role.
"It’s an exciting opportunity and one I’m looking forward to getting stuck into," said Coyle, who has spent time the Renegades squad during previous seasons.
"The club has worked hard to create a really good culture around this team and heading into the third season of the competition, we know what to expect, how strong the teams are and what it takes to be successful."
The Renegades have yet to feature in the WBBL finals, finishing eighth and seventh.
In other Tasmanian cricket news, Tigers captain George Bailey scored 63 in his first game for English county side Hampshire but couldn’t prevent a 25-run loss to Essex in the one-day cup at Chelmsford.
