Tasmania boasts a 2-1 win-loss record heading into the under-18 academy series encounter following wins against Northern Territory and Brisbane Lions, while the Suns have one victory under their belt.
The Mariners have made several changes for the battle with Chayce Jones, Ben McGuiness and Tyran Mansell included in the squad and Harrison Gunther, Casey Brown and James Brenner making way.
Tarryn Thomas will not return and looks likely to miss the next two academy matches after injuring his knee playing for the AFL Academy in New Zealand.
State coach Lance Spaulding said his players are expecting a tough test.
"They are a bit quicker, they play a similar game to us but we've got to focus on what we are doing, if we bring pressure and intent then it will allow us to play our game and it should be good enough," he said.
"We can't go worrying too much about what they have got, we need to go in and control the game."
First bounce is 10am.
