Former Brisbane Lions and Western Storm forward Bart McCulloch will join coach Tom Couch in the red and black jumper for the first time with five other senior debutants for round one.
Nathan Jackson, Rhyan Mansell, Dylan Headland and Dylan Clayton and Lewis Hollmer will join McCulloch and Couch in their first senior games for the club.
“We’re confident with the pre-season we’ve had and we’re going to back the boys in to get the job done,” Couch said.
“There’s no doubt it is going to be a tricky test first up and they are going to be up and about.
“We’ve got seven players making their debuts for the club and that’s exciting – it’s exciting to see those boys play and to share that moment with their families and just seeing how we go as a side because we have up to 10 changes from the grand final side last year.
“It is a new side and how that is going to gel is probably the most exciting thing for me and a bit of that unknown and what the side can accomplish.
“There is a big build-up to round one and it’s probably as close to a finals scenario that you can get and everyone has been training for four months and it’s been six months since they played so we’re expecting it to be fiery especially early and it’s exciting to see who stands up under pressure.”
