The reigning 2016 NPL Tasmania championship coach transferred to Hobart in the offseason following an all-conquering year in charge of Devonport City Strikers.
Savill, who still resides in Launceston, has worked his magic in a few short months on the 2016 third finishers.
Zebras sit equal atop of the NPL Summer Series table with Olympia Warriors entering the final round of matches at Windsor Park. The two unbeaten clubs are expect to meet for the preseason title in their last game.
Savill will also eye off a first encounter against his former club in his side’s earlier clash.
Olympia have to get past Launceston City first to keep their preseason hopes aloft.
City coach Ben Brookfield is priming his chargers for the game at Windsor Park.
“I’m looking forward to playing against Olympia,” he said. “We want test ourselves against the best in the state.”
Brookfield is hoping to fine tune things for the club’s season opener on March 12.
“Due to things out of my control such as holidays and injuries, we’ve probably got two or three players who are starters, who we’ve not had in the squad yet,” he added.
Northern Rangers play the Strikers first before the Lions, which both could still be looking for their first wins.
