Marsh’s sacking was announced in a Cricket Tasmania press release which thanked the 43-year-old for his contribution but concluded “no further comment will be made” until a press conference on Friday morning.
Less than a week after the Tigers’ latest humbling in a disastrous Sheffield Shield season, it said the CT board in consultation with senior management had determined that Marsh’s contract as senior coach should be terminated immediately.
Since Marsh took over from three-time Shield-winner Tim Coyle, the Tigers have finished fifth, fifth and last with another wooden spoon likely this season, no higher than fourth in the one-day competition and in the last three BBL seasons the Hobart Hurricanes were fifth, seventh and seventh. Hurricanes coach Wright was axed three weeks ago.
