The promotion featured former Tasmanian Chris Drummond take out the Legion 78kg super middleweight belt over Launceston warrior Damon Upton-Greer.
Drummond, now fighting out of Sydney, won the war of attrition between dual mixed martial arts fighters in a three-rounds-to-two verdict.
Thai-trained Devonport fighter Tyler Smith also claimed the Legion 69kg welterweight title against Hobart’s Raza Rahimy in a second-round knockout.
Gelston regarded the closeness and quality of the fights ensured a deep card at Elphin Sports Centre.
“It was our most successful event to date, no doubt. We had over 15 fights and we had some real even-match, cracking bouts,” he said.
In front of the biggest crowd for his kickboxing promotion, Gelston said the Muay Thai sport has been building to this point of a Tasmanian supercard.
“It’s progressed over the last four or five years. Clubs have built up and there’s more of a following behind the promotion, which has helped grow the sport and it’s starting to take off,” he said.
Five MMA fighters crossed to his promotion, he added.
The night had 25 of the 30 fighters from Tasmania that included 12 from Launceston that spawned two head-to-head local battles.
Cody Thorp won his first kickboxing fight against Shaun Vella in the 80kg catchweight class, as Daniel Bluett walked out victorious in the 72kg middleweight clash over Nathan Ballym.
