The Carrick Park Pacing Club will hold its annual Carrick Cup twilight meeting on Saturday, featuring a 10-race program and a host of family activities.
Gates open at the historic Carrick track at 1.30pm, with the first race starting at 3.15pm.
Besides a full afternoon of racing, other attractions will include the Fashions on the Field competition, the Chilli Tug of War competition, pony races, free children's jumping castle and face-painting, and live music following the last race.
A full bar and a wide range of food will be available.
The feature event is the Northern Tasmanian Light Harness Association Carrick Cup, which will carry $8000 in prizemoney. Pacing club secretary Sandra Rybarczyk said the Carrick racing experience brings spectators closer to the track.
``Every horse has a good opportunity to win because of the long distance of the track, it is very fair,'' she said.
``And it's great for the crowd because you are close to the action. You can almost reach out and touch the horses.''
