Hobart’s Olympic mountain biker and road racer Scott Bowden finished a close second and Launceston National Road Series regular Tom Robinson third.
Tasmanian Institute of Sport coach Matthew Gilmore reported a hugely successful race with a field featuring Hobart’s Madeleine Fasnacht the morning after being named Cycling Australia’s junior road cyclist of the year.
“Great day out. Fantastic weather, good racing and turn out,” Gilmore said.
Robinson will switch to fat tyres on Sunday to join another highly talented field for Launceston Mountain Bike Club’s annual six-hour enduro at Kate Reed reserve.
Nathan Earle, Ben Bradley, Mitch Gittus, Micheal Wilson, Ben Mather, Alex Lack, Rowena Fry and Tasmanian school champs Izzy Flint and Sam Fox are among the entrants.
