The Happy Chef
2 William St, Longford
Agent: One Agency Launceston Ph. Jo Eady 0418 727056
It’s so much more than a successful freehold business in the popular town of Longford – it’s a lifestyle, it’s an income, and it’s a chance to get creative and immerse yourself in country life.
James Read, better known as the Happy Chef, made his own tree-change with wife Liz years ago, moving to Tasmania where they successfully built a reputation for quality food service and functions while raising their children in a friendly, rural environment.
The Happy Chef has been delighting patrons at Longford for the past 10 years and the time has come for someone new to take over the local business which sits on more than 1500m2 of prime land.
The heritage building, Jessen Lodge, covers 500m2 and is a venue predominantly used for wedding receptions but caters for all types of events.
Everything from school functions and Christmas parties to product launches, fashion parades and service club meeting take place at The Happy Chef and it offers an evening a-la-carte-menu that is popular with locals and visitors.
The restaurant is an open-plan space with fully equipped bar and cosy lounge area, large enough to cater for up to 130 guests, yet can be adapted for smaller groups. A large maplewood dance floor makes up part of the space.
Uniting the restaurant and the garden is the sun-filled garden room. This is a multi-purpose room that can be used for casual seating, dancing and much more.
The restaurant opens onto a delightful rose garden – a perfect place for wedding ceremonies or pre-dinner hors d'oeuvres.
