The two North East Football Union clubs made a request last month – signalling their desire to leave the struggling four-team competition. For their individual applications to be successful, the Seagulls and Swans require a majority of votes to go their way.
Twelve association board members will each cast one vote, as will all 19 NTFA clubs.
The association has held discussions with all clubs throughout the process.
The future of the NEFU remains in doubt with union executives to meet with AFL Tasmania on Thursday once the NTFA’s decision is made.
NTFA president Ian Morrison said earlier this month that their would be capacity to extend its division 2 competition to 12 teams.
