Cycling Tasmania’s road team are preparing for a busy weekend as they seek to follow the bike tracks of Richie Porte, Matt Goss and Wes Sulzberger.
The program includes a time trial on Friday, road race on Saturday and criterium on Sunday.
Cycling Tasmania executive officer Collin Burns said the team represents a mix of experience and debutants who should all be quite competitive.
“Our best chance of a podium would be Josh Duffy and Anya Low in the under-17s and Liam Johnston and Amy Wright in the under-15s,” Burns said.
Nearly 250 of Australia's rising stars will vie for national titles across the two age categories in the time trial, road race and criterium disciplines.
Cycling Australia said the championships have traditionally been a breeding ground for Australian champions, with Australian and world stars including Rohan Dennis, Luke Durbridge, Caleb Ewan, Melissa Hoskins and Tasmanian Amy Cure all honing their skills at the event.
Live results will be available from www.cycling.org.au and via the event website which includes links to start times, rider lists, maps, courses and results.
