The duo – Ben Stewart and Alex Quayle – are riding high on the back of debut LP Chamomile.
Instead of dipping their toes in the release pool with EPs, they went straight to the album.
Stewart said for a first taste of an official release (they’ve only put out singles before) it was a very measured move.
“I felt like we had more to say than would fit on an EP. I think there is so much more deliberation when putting together an album- we really wanted the songs to flow together and compliment one another,” Stewart said.
Chamomile was released on August 19, and Stewart said the response so far had been nothing short of overwhelming.
“This band started as just a little studio writing project and had no vision whatsoever,” he said.
“For people to be singing the words at shows and us selling out of merch is truly something I never envisaged.”
You can celebrate the release of Chamomile with Slowly Slowly at Club 54 on Saturday night from 8pm (entry is $10). If you’re after something more intimate, Stewart will be playing on an acoustic line up with Nick Bennett, and Pax Broxton at Bakers Lane for an all-ages show on Sunday from 2pm ($5 entry).
